The PowerBoat Guide had this to say:Largest boat in the Maxum fleet when she was introduced in 1994, the 3200 SCR is a low-cost sterndrive cruiser with functional deck and cabin layouts and an impressive list of standard features. During her production years, she was among the least expensive boats of her type on the market. Hull construction is solid fiberglass and the Maxum's 11-foot beam-together with the lack of any side-decks results in an unusually spacious interior for a 32-footer. The mid-cabin layout is arranged in the usual manner with double berths fore and aft, a convertible dinette, complete galley, and a stand-up head with sink and shower. A curtain forward and a folding door aft separate the sleeping areas from the salon, and headroom is excellent, even in the small aft cabin. On deck, the cockpit is arranged with facing settees aft aft and a double-wide seat at the helm (which folds out into a lounge). A windshield walk-through provides access to the fore-deck and bow platform.

The PowerBoat Guide had this to say: A heavy dose of European styling and a super-competitive price combined to make the 4600 SCB an early marketing success for Maxum. At just over 30,000 pounds, the 4600 is a relatively light boat for her size—a fact that doubtless contributes to her good fuel economy. She rides on a solid fiberglass hull with moderate beam and a shallow keel for directional stability. The Maxum’s two- stateroom floorplan is arranged with the galley up, a step down from the salon level, with a choice of either an elevated dinette or a lower helm to starboard. Both head compartments are fitted with separate stall showers, and a good deal of cherry paneling and trim are applied throughout the stylish interior. On deck, the compact cockpit is shaded by a flybridge overhang. A ladder leads up to the flybridge with ample guest seating and wet bar aft of the helm, and the wide swim platform can store a PWC. Early models with 400hp gas inboards cruise at 16–17 knots cruise (24 knots top). Optional 370hp Cummins cruise at 18 knots (about 22 knots top), and a pair of 450hp Cummins cruise at 20 knots and reach a
